ARIES: BLOODY MARY

TOMATO JALAPENO BLOODY MARY

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Puree tomatoes in a blender with lemon juice, jalapeños, horseradish to taste, Worcestershire, sugar, celery salt and pepper, scraping down the sides as necessary. Stir in vodka. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours. Divide among 4 ice-filled glasses. Spear caperberries (or olives) and dilly beans on toothpicks to garnish the drinks.

 

TAURUS: MARGARITA

FROZEN MANGO MARGARITAS

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Place mango, ice, tequila, lime juice, Triple Sec and simple syrup in a blender. Puree until smooth.

 

GEMINI: WINE SPRITZER

CHERRY MINT SPRITZER

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Divide cherries, mint leaves and sugar among 4 glasses. Mash everything together with the back of a wooden spoon. Stir in lime juice. Fill glasses with ice and top with seltzer. Garnish with mint sprigs.

 

CANCER: PINA COLADA

BOOZY PINA COLADA

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1/4 cup coconut milk

  • 1 1/2 oz. dark rum (like Myers's)

DIRECTIONS

Place pineapple, coconut milk and rum in a blender and puree until smooth. Top with a little toasted coconut, if desired.

 

LEO: MINT JULEP 

CLASSIC MINT JULEPS

INGREDIENTS

 DIRECTIONS

Place mint and sugar in a medium pitcher. Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, muddle for about 60 seconds by pressing the mint against the bottom of pitcher to release its fragrance. Do not tear or shred the mint. Add seltzer and bourbon; stir to dissolve the sugar. Divide ice among 6 rocks glasses and pour the bourbon mixture over the ice. Garnish each glass with a sprig of mint.

 

VIRGO: VODKA-CRAN COCKTAIL 

SPARKLING CRAN RAZZY

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

If using fresh raspberries, freeze them in a single layer for about 1 hour (or overnight) before proceeding with Step 2.

Combine cranberry-raspberry juice, seltzer and lime juice in a pitcher. Divide among 4 ice-filled glasses. Garnish with frozen raspberries and lime wedges.

 

LIBRA: GIN AND TONIC 

LAVENDER-CUCUMBER GIN AND TONIC

INGREDIENTS

 Lavender Simple Syrup

Gin & Tonic

DIRECTIONS

To prepare simple syrup: Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove from heat. Stir in flowers and let cool to room temperature, about 45 minutes. Strain (discard the flowers) and refrigerate for up to 1 month. (Makes 1-1 1/4 cups.)

To prepare gin & tonic: Fill a tall glass with ice. With a muddler, mash cucumber in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add gin and 1 ounce of the simple syrup. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain into the glass and add tonic. Stir to combine. Garnish with cucumber slice, if desired.

 

SCORPIO: HURRICANE 

PASSION COLADA

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Combine ice, passion fruit juice, cream of coconut and rum, if using, in a blender and blend until smooth.

 

SAGITTARIUS: SANGRIA 

RED SANGRIA

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Stir wine, orange juice, brandy, oranges and apple together in a large pitcher. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to blend flavors. Serve over ice.

 

CAPRICORN: MARTINI 

STRAWBERRY CHILE MARTINI

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Using a "muddling" stick or small wooden spoon, mash strawberries, jalapeno and lime in a cocktail shaker until the berries are broken down. Add liquor, Grand Marnier and agave (or simple syrup). Fill the shaker with ice; shake well. Taste and add more jalapeno and/or agave, if desired. Strain into 2 martini glasses. Garnish with a strawberry and a jalapeno slice.

 

AQUARIUS: FROZEN DAIQUIRI

STRAWBERRY-COCONUT DAIQUIRI

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

Combine strawberries, sugar and lime juice together in a blender. Blend until smooth. Add ice cubes and rum and blend until frothy. Transfer mixture to a pitcher and serve.

 

PISCES: MOJITO
