Simple Syrup

SIMPLE SYRUP

MOTIVATION: Simple syrup is the foundation of almost all fruity drinks.  And being a fruity drink connoisseur, I can tell you my bartending skills skyrocketed when I learned the many variations of simple syrup.  Be a pro!  Learn how to make this.

MAJOR KEY:

1. This is the easiest recipe in the world.  The art comes in when you realize you can infuse this with so many things.  Add mint, citrus, vanilla beans, etc.

2.  This recipe is an "equal parts" recipe.  So, you can scale this recipe up or down according to how much you need.  Store whatever is left in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat the ingredients until dissolved. Stir the simple syrup and place the saucepan over medium heat. By the time the edges start to simmer, the liquid should be completely clear, not cloudy.

2. Immediately remove from the heat.
