Real Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

REAL VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM 

 

MOTIVATION: Maybe you've never seen a real vanilla bean. Maybe you grew up on vanilla flavoring.  Don't be ashamed.  I did too :p  Here is your chance to splurge and get the real deal.  Pure and fresh vanilla bean is a taste you need to experience.  Go for it!

MAJOR KEY: Don't substitute vanilla bean for vanilla flavoring.  I need you to be an adult and get the real thing..lol

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 vanilla beans
  • 1 tbsp. Tastic sweet*

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Using the tip of a sharp knife slight the middle of the vanilla bean.  Use the blade, scrape open the vanilla bean and gather the black beans on the knife. I did a quick video on my Instagram spice page @tasticspice
  2. Combine all ingredients, stirring to dissolve sugar completely. Fill cylinder of ice cream maker no more than two-thirds full; freeze according to manufacturer's directions. (Refrigerate any remaining mixture until ready to freeze.) Serve immediately or store in covered containers in freezer.
